Hi there again. People talk about obedience dog training, but do you really know
what it means? The first book about dog training was published in 1910 by Colonel
Konrad for military purposes. Its concepts were adopted by all of the military
countries in Europe, and also in the USA a couple of decades later. His methodologies changed over the years having being considered rough or aggressive, since they relied on punishment. Nowadays, there are many different types of training schools, allowing people to gain easier access and a better understand of it.
Some aspects are vital for achieving good results, like focus, follower nature, body
language, voice, assertiveness, bonding and technique.
We know that humans and dogs have been together since the dawn of times, and that they will follow their owners wherever they go. Yes, they can do that, although it’s not always the case. Sometimes they just need some fine tuning and to make some adjustments to their focus. Bringing focus to an anxious dog can be a complicated task, but it is achievable. Once they start training and practising daily, they will create a proper bond with their owners. It’s just like you and your best friend speaking a different language; once one of you learns it, communication becomes
way clearer and understanding arises out of nowhere.
That’s the reason why a good dog trainer with solid experience is needed, so they can guide you through the whole process and provide the knowledge or translation required to make it happen.
It’s a unique journey, since individual timing and behavioural patterns need to be considered. Sometimes training can differ from one dog to another, even between dogs of the same breed, but they mostly all follow the same types of training exercises. It’s always good to remember that cooperation between owners and their dog trainer is essential, and with time and commitment, it will all pay off.
